Course Objective: To
provide a solid and practical foundation for the design, implementation and
management of database systems. Coverage of database design, current
database technologies, and database management issues. Our focus is
on database concepts, database modeling using the E-R model
(MS-Visio), design
of production databases, the relational model, SQL, Procedural SQL
(triggers and stored procedures), transaction management and query
optimization.

Database Systems: Design, Implementation and Management, by Peter
Rob and Carlos Coronel, published by Course Technologies.
